I especially liked the word electro-magnetogyrodynamism, or something like it. I learned that the earth is a really big gyro-scope, and a weak magnet that nobody understands fully. In the end of my edition with the alternate cover was a 1991 Afterward. In it the author pointed out that none of the dire predictions from the 1970's came true and admitted that after studying all the available data on this topic he believed that we are NOT in line for a diasaster caused by any type of pole shift, and that he doubts the earth ever experienced one.
