There are similarities with the aforementioned father of modern survival horror, but where it drifts away from being a mere clone is in its time period. Released on the PS1, Nightmare Creatures pit players in 19th century London in the role of either a female warrior (Nadia) or a male monk (Ignatius).

Angel of Darkness sounded pretty interesting as well, what with the heroine of the game being able to fuse with her pet raven. The game’s plot was to be set in 19th century Prague. But as aforementioned, Kalisto went out of business and Ubisoft ended up gaining complete ownership over the game. But alas, the game itself got cancelled at the hands of Ubisoft.
